Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Provide a venue for 70+ artists to perform a global array of music and dance, including Latin, European, American, Caribbean, Native American, Asian, belly dancing, and more. Entertainment Line-up Variety: Measure the number of different cultures represented, entertainment line-up overlap in terms of cultural, style and art form, Number/types of disciplines performed. Number of Artists: Tally number of performers. 2: The attendance objective is 6,000 (up from 3,500 in 2011). The event will take place in an underserved market. In 2011, 24% lived in the neighborhood. The objective is that in 2013, 50% or more will live in the neighborhood. Attendance will be measured via: traditional event observation methods, input from police and vendors, Midtown Global Market door counts. Neighborhood attendees: Our survey asks for residential Zip Codes.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Number of Minnesota artists: 2013-67 vs. 72 in '12. However and as noted above, an eight-piece global music group canceled early the day of the show. Had they not cancelled (and boy were we happy!), we would have been spot on our projections. Variety: We're proud of the variety of entertainment presented in our line-up. Music: Cuban big band, jazz, reggae/calypso, West African, soul/funk, Americana/eclectic mix, New Orleans jazz and Swedish were genres that graced one of our three stages. Dance: West African, stepping, Zumba (a community dance/fitness party), salsa, Bollywood, belly and Turkish dancers performed. A 20-minute group salsa dancing lesson/session also took place. Drumming: West African and Native American drumming performances also took place. 2: We are happy with our attendance results. Our survey indicated that approximately 31% of our attendees live in the neighborhood. Our objective was 50+% so there is an opportunity to improve in this category in 2014.
