Appropriation Language

Digital Library. $250,000 the first year and $250,000 the second year are for a digital library project to preserve, digitize, and share Minnesota images, documents, and historical materials. The Minnesota Historical Society shall cooperate with the Minitex interlibrary loan system and shall jointly share this appropriation for these purposes.

Project Overview
The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) is a statewide, multi-institutional initiative. Its mission is to make the rich historical resources of the state's public and academic libraries, archives, museums and historical societies available to students, teachers and the public via the web and also to preserve these resources for future generations. The 2012-2013 appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund will allow the MDL to expand the number of historical resources online and continue its work preserving these digital resources.
Project Details
This appropriation will allow the Minnesota Digital Library (MDL), a statewide, multi-institutional initiative, to make more rich historical resources from the state’s public and academic libraries, archives, museums and historical societies available to the public via the web. The MDL will also continue its work to preserve these digital resources for future generations.
