Short term outcome of completion of the Level II property evaluation survey was achieved five months ahead of schedule. We credit exceeding this target, to the diligence and efficiency of our contracted consultant, as well as cooperation and positive response from the building owners, businesses located in the downtown, and the Montgomery residents.
Pending the result of this Level II property evaluation, we anticipate applying for additional grant funding to complete nomination to the National Register.
Whether or not we achieve the long-term objective of increasing tourism and visitors to the downtown historic district, realize an increase in commerce and reduction in vacancies downtown, hinges on the result of this phase of the project. Regardless of the final outcome, Montgomery will benefit by having completed this survey and documented our historically significant assets for future generations and for future promotion of our downtown district.
