ACHF Arts Access ACHF Arts Education
To provide the opportunity for summer enrichment art activities. To introduce children 8-14 to higher education and new subject matters that expand their creativity, critical thinking and expose them to future career ideas in the areas of fine arts, visual arts and more. To establish a fun atmosphere of learning in which students gain important life experiences. To encourage enrollment by children to whom opportunities like these are not available due to economic constraints.Students and parents were given program surveys to be filled out by the end of their class. These surveys were/are used to gauge impact and gather information and suggestions for coming years. Shireen Alemadi, Director, attended all gallery shows and spoke with students and parents about their experiences.
Overall, the experience was a very positive one for the kids. They were overwhelmingly excited and happy about what they were doing in their art classes. Here are a couple comments we got on our surveys: College for kids is a good chance for kids to learn and do things they have never done. I had never done this before I did enjoy it and got to make some cool glass art. I got to make cups and bowls, clay figures, awesome beads and fun stories. We learned how to make all kinds of beads. Then learn how to incorporate them in bracelets, necklaces, ankle bracelets, etc.! Very fun and cool. I loved the art classes and I want to sign up for more classes next year. I learned about new words about art and I taught my mom about them. I got to use art materials I never got to use before. I taught my mom and dad and my little brothers about the things we did. I wish that I could use these art materials more.
