Lake Soil and Water Conservation District Surface Water Assessment Grant (SWAG) - Lake Superior Watershed
This project will collect water quality data for four stream sites and six lake sites within the Lake Superior South major
watershed as part of the 10-year cycle for monitoring Minnesota's waters. Due to the large number and geographic extent of
monitoring sites, Lake County Soil and Waters Conservation District has coordinated site selection with South St. Louis Soil and Waters Conservation District and the Natural Resources Research Institute and will monitor sites within the northeastern portion of the watershed. All of the stream and lake sites are located in Lake County along highway 61 and close to Lake Superior. Stream sites include the Beaver River, Split Rock River, Gooseberry River, and Knife River. Lake sites include Christianson, Stewart, Lax, Tetagouche, Bean, and Bear Lakes. This project will provide two years of surface water quality data.
