Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

This short film will showcase how cinematic Duluth is and encourage other TV/Filmmakers to make their productions here. That would bring huge revenue to the local economy. One TV show deciding to come to Duluth to make its production could mean an economic boom that could impact the region for years. Catalyst Content Festival is currently compiling a production guide which is a database of all local people with talent and experience that could work on a production, they are also taking photos of locations in Duluth and the surrounding area. I believe making a short film that features some of these locations and shows them actually utilized in a movie is a great addition to this community effort to attract productions to Duluth. Pictures speak 1,000 words but a movie can leave you speechless, I want this short film to leave producers and directors who’ve never been here with the feeling that they are missing out. The cast and crew for this short film will be entirely local and they will all be credited at the end of the film. When I share the short film I will provide a document with the bios and resumes of the cast and crew and descriptions and historical info about each location used in the film written by Dennis Lampkin (as stated in his letter of confirmation) Finally, there will be a screening open to the public with free admission at The Sinclair Terrace in Duluth shortly after I finish the film. Goals: -To create a 10 min. short film that acts as a work sample for my writing, directing, cinematography, and editing as well as showcases a number of cinematic Duluth locations (historic properties, natural settings, the lake, and hidden treasures like local hiking trails) -To use all 7 of the properties we have already secured and at least 4 open to the public nature areas such as the lakeshore and hiking trails. -Enhance my skills in writing, directing, cinematography, and editing. -Create connections by making and sharing this short film. With every project, I complete my reputation as a filmmaker in this community strengthens. -Share the short film on Facebook and Instagram and reach 1,000 views on facebook and 1,000 views on Instagram. -Get 30 people to the public screening at the Sinclair Terrace. - Create a two-page document that will be shared with the short film that has the bios of the cast and crew as well as a description with historical info of each location. For my Artist Access grant, I wrote a 60-page screenplay that I submitted to the Catalyst Content Festival on the deadline of July 2. I went beyond my goal for that project and created an additional 40page pitch, with a 2 min. animated short film. I participated in the Duluth 48 hour film project. I produced, wrote, directed, shot, and edited called “The PLAN” all in 48 hours. I assembled a team of 16 volunteers all of which put their trust in me because of the work I have done in the past. In my work sample, you can see a clip from the 7min short film. I have formulated this project grant proposal with my Emmy Award-winning Mentor, Mark Eveslage. As mentioned in his letter of confirmation he believes this is not only a good idea but that I am capable of doing it. I have already secured all the locations cast and crew necessary to complete this short film. I have worked (and am friends) with every actor, crew member and location owner I have secured thus far for this project. I will know when I have created a 10min short film (that uses all 7 properties and at least 4 open to the public nature areas) that is fit to be a work sample of my writing, directing, cinematography and editing because my Emmy Award-winning mentor Mark Eveslage will review the drafts of the short film as I am editing and notify me when I have created a version he deems ready to share with industry professionals. I will know I have completed the cast and crew bio with a description of and historical info on each location when I have it printed out and in my hand. I will keep a record of

Measurable Outcome(s)

Shooting, directing, editing, and sharing the work I have done for this project has given me work sample material as well as showcasing some of the cinematic locations in Duluth. I was able to shoot at the seven properties I had secured before applying for this grant, and I was able to shoot at many other properties. Working on this project helped me create connections in the local and national film and TV community because not only was this an artistic work, but it showed my dedication to fostering the local film and tv industry.
