I want to place images like these in front of all sorts of people from all walks of life so that women may be raised up, reminded of their inherent power, and learn to let go of the shame that has been taught to us from childhood. My pieces will feature female bodies of all types, of varying shapes and heritage so that the stories in the paintings can be` relatable to all. My goal is for any person of any age with a female body to find joy and empowerment by viewing the show. The paintings will also reach out to those in the community who do not have female bodies to inspire respect and appreciation as they experience images of a new paradigm. My goal is to successfully begin a new artistic path in my career by completing a series of paintings that will draw in visitors to spark new ways of thinking, questions and conversations about female physiological body processes. ? Create 5 large and 8 small/medium (13 total) paintings to complete the exhibition ? Hold a reception and artist talk at the venue. ? At least 8 one on one conversations discussing the show's concepts with attendees at events. ? Artwork initiates engagement and conversations from attendees to events ? See an increase in engagement of at least 20% - email, phone calls, media interviews, social media followers, commissions, etc? ? Gain at least 2 opportunities to do an artist talk ? Gain at least 2 opportunities to show the exhibition at other venues The show is already scheduled at the Duluth Art Institute, so there is no alternative to completing the project in a timely manner. I have completed a number of projects over the years for solo exhibitions at Great Lakes Aquarium, Johnson Heritage Post Gallery, Duluth Folk School, etc. I am familiar with deadlines and know what I can complete in a given amount of time. Regarding the content? I know that I can create the paintings I envision because I have already completed the very beginnings of the project to my satisfaction. I also have reference material gathered, and models lined up.I can measure the success of beginning a new artistic direction by ? Receiving at least 2 opportunities for exhibiting project and 2 opportunities for additional artist talks at other venues. ? Completing 13 paintings and hang collection at DAI ? Track engagement via emails, phone calls, media interviews, social media followers, commissions, etc. using analytic reports when possible. ? Number of attendees at opening reception and artist talk events at DAI I can measure the success of engaging viewers in new thoughts, conversations, and appreciation of female bodies by ? Providing exhibit surveys which ask visitors reactions, thought processes, new perspectives, etc. ? Observation, personal engagement: observing visitors' reactions/ engagement at reception and artist talk events. Conversing with visitors to determine effects/ interest.
