$5,982,000 the first year and $7,000,000 the second year are for statewide historic and cultural grants to local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Money must be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society must administer the money using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).

All targets have been achieved as expected. The mural has a brighter, cleaner appearance and details that had been lost to years of dirt, grime and yellowing varnish are more prevalent. The old shades were replaced with light-blocking shades that now protect the painting from further damage caused by light and UV rays. We will use data recorders loaned to us by the Midwest Art Conservation Center at two different times the first year (one in summer and one in winter) to measure the amount of light now impacting the mural. We will compare that data to the previous light assessment executed in April, 2016.
