$5,846,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $7,004,000 in fiscal year 2021 are for statewide historic and cultural grants to local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Money must be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society must administer the money using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).

While we were not able to finish archiving the collection, we made significant progress with storage of oversized items and intake of new items, laying a foundation for more expedient processes and was able to do a second exhibition for the public in Orchestra Hall in Downtown Minneapolis in May 2022. At this exhibit, we were able to get feedback from people who engaged a public journal on their thoughts and reflections on how the exhibit impacted them. In many ways, as we work on the short-term goals, the intermediate and long-term goals are simultaneously happening in increments.
