FY22 Veterans Memorial Grant
Shamrock Township will erect a 7.5' x9' Veterans Memorial Monument on the Shamrock Township Property. This memorial will include concrete sidewalks, monument footings and slab, flagpole with concrete footings, 2 benches on concrete pads, trees, shrubs, flowers and additional landscaping.
The monument will read "Bellhorn Memorial- "All Gave Some...Some Gave All...with gratitude and honor...to all who served...that freedome may soar on eagle's wings." The memorial will also include plaques from each of the 6 units of service. These plaques will be placed on both sides of the memorial, for higher visibility.
The memorial will be located off of County Road 14/Lake Avenue on the north end of the parking lot at the township property. It will be visible for people who are driving by and also easily accessible for all on the property off of the parking lot. The monument location will have a handicapped parking spot available, with the area being fulling handicapped accessible.

$72,750 in Fiscal Year 2022 and $72,750 in Fiscal Year 2023 are for a competitive grants program to provide grants to local units of government for veterans memorials to preserve the culture and heritage of Minnesota. The local unit of government must provide a nonstate cash match equal to the amount of the grant received under this paragraph.?
Visitors will report a feeling of gratitude for the Veteran's and feel a stronger connection to those around them.
Visitors will gain interest, understanding and knowledge of the United States Military Services.
The Shamrock Township Park and Recreational area will increase visitors by 150 people per year.
The Shamrock Township Park and Recreational area will host 3 field trips for students from McGregor ISD #4 each year.
