Project Details
Katha Dance Theatre will present traditional Indian Kathak dance lessons by its artistic director, Rita Mustaphi. The company will also present an original Kathak dance opera, titled Karna Kunti Sambad at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium.

Katha Dance Theatre will provide traditional Asian Indian Kathak dance lessons and its company members will present an original Kathak dance opera in St Paul. Katha Dance Theatre has created an evaluation form to track activities, capacity, dates and time frames, participants, demographics, community partners, purpose, and assessment of success. 2: Katha Dance Theatre will perform at the O'Shaughnessy Auditorium at the University of Saint Catherine in St Paul. In addition to selling tickets, Katha Dance Theatre will offer free tickets to 500 school students. Katha Dance Theatre has created an evaluation form to track activities, capacity, dates and time frames, participants, demographics, community partners, purpose, and assessment of success. This includes an assessment of the success of promotion and outreach. The company also uses information in post-show and class discussions, ticket sales, and audience surveys.

Measurable Outcome(s)

1. Two new traditional Kathak works by Asian Indian artists of color were brought to life. 2. Accessible and affordable Asian Indian art and cultural experiences were brought to the 7-county metro area. 3. To groom professional Kathak dancers through technical articulation and presentation of the form. Katha Dance Theater created a consolidated evaluation form that we distributed to the individuals involved before each activity and project began to track activities, capacity, dates and time frames, participants, demographics, community partner and the intent/purpose of those partnerships. Katha Dance Theater's artistic director, executive director, program manager, and board of directors were in charge of processing those evaluations, and also used information provided through post-show and class discussions, critical reviews, ticket sales, and audience surveys to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of our outcomes. 2: 1. The accession of student enrollment and audience turnout for future Katha Dance Theatre company performances, Kathak classes, and outreach programs. 2. The ability to engender intercultural harmony, tolerance, understanding, and respect in communities throughout the metro area. Katha Dance Theatre created a consolidated evaluation form that we distributed to the individuals involved before each activity and project began to track activities, capacity, dates and time frames, participants, demographics, community partner and the intent/purpose of those partnerships.
