The Tamil Association of Minnesota will train community members on Tamil traditional instruments Nadhaswaram, Thawil, and Parai, as well as vocal and Therukkoothu folklore with a final performance at the Muthamizh Vizha Tamil traditional festival held in July and August 2020.

ACHF Cultural Heritage
Thirty Minnesota artists develop and deepen their skills in South Indian folk and Traditional music instruments, vocal and Therukkoothu-Folklore. The master artists will assess the community artists on the apprenticeship progress based on predefined parameters including Instrumental Techniques, vocal, tradition and awareness, aural and improvisation. 2: Improve community awareness on South Indian folk and traditional instruments, Vocal and Therukkoothu folklore - through workshop and performance. Survey the community audience to measure awareness on the presented folk and traditional music, Folk Vocal and Therukkoothu Folklore.
32 artists participated, learnt and performed the Tamil Folk and Traditional arts through this program. Workshop attendance of the artists and their Finale performance on the stage are the key evaluations used to assess their participation and the effectiveness of the workshop. 2: The student artists and the event audience gained improved awareness on the South Indian folk and traditional instruments, Vocal and Therukkoothu. Evaluated through event attendance, feedback gathered from event audience and the student artists.
