Project Details

Division of Indian Work's Youth Leadership Development Program staff and elder consultants will teach youth the traditional art forms of storytelling, doll making, quilting, and cradle board making to preserve the traditions of American Indian culture.

Youth will create traditional art forms for the community. Youth will complete art projects with help from elders and YLDP staff. 2: Youth will learn the history of traditional art forms from elders. Youth will complete evaluation forms.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Youth will create traditional art forms for the community. Youth created traditional Indigenous art projects, including ribbons and sweat dresses and shawls. These outcomes were observed by elder consultants and Youth Leadership Development staff. 2: Youth will learn the history of traditional art forms from elders. Youth were provided the history of each traditional art form created during this project. Elder consultants explained why each traditional art form was practiced and preserved.
