First Congregational Church Gothic Windows Restoration
The First Congregational Church is a historic church building listed in the National Register of Historic Places in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, built in 1886. It is constructed of red sandstone in Gothic-Romanesque style, featuring round-arched windows. After more than 100 years, the windows needed restoration to bring them back to their former glory. The condition of the windows was first assessed in 2005 as part of an extensive conditions assessment. This grant funded the restoration and reinstallation of five upper-level Gothic Revival Art Glass windows on the east wall of the Sanctuary. Overall, the windows' totality and quality is an important feature of significant enduring value.

$5,846,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $7,004,000 in fiscal year 2021 are for statewide historic and cultural grants to local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Money must be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society must administer the money using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).
