Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Our goal is to enhance the musical experience for the audience, the musicians, and the percussion sections of both the orchestra and the band. Better sounding percussion instruments will enhance our sound, be easier to play for our musicians, and increase the choice of repertoire by our directors. We have created a short survey for the percussionists, directors, and band members. The board will review the survey results and determine if the improvements were noticeable to those affected, and if the survey results indicate the need for further review of the percussion equipment. We are considering adding a question to our audience surveys this spring, which would ask if they noticed an improvement in the sound of the percussion instruments, especially the timpani.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Some sample remarks: Directors: "The sound quality of the timpani is far superior to the old. Now the timpani can be considered a musical instrument." "The new percussion instruments have more characteristic and mature sounds that match the level of the ensemble." "Now I can program anything I want, and I don't have to borrow equipment from local schools anymore." Percussionists: "The new instruments are a vast improvement over the previous ones. The sound, ease of tuning, and ability to play more involved
