This is a segment of our community who often feel left out because of their hearing loss. The addition of a high-quality portable sound system will increase their enjoyment of the performances and help them feel included. The outdoor environment when we perform the Shakespeare in the Park performances offers another set of challenges. Actors are trained to project, however, with competing sounds from passing traffic, wind, neighborhood activities, airplanes, etc. the audience must strain to hear. A portable sound system will help to strengthen the overall quality and enjoyment for both the audience and actors. Evaluation of the impact of the project will be done by directly interviewing random audience members. A committee will be organized to conduct the interviews and evaluate the results. This committee will also interview actors, directors, stage mangers. etc. following the close of the event for their input. A final report will be made on their findings.
