The goal that I have is to create an event to expose the community to the musical works of Black and Mixed with Black heritage historical musicians that have influenced music as we know it today; additionally, I would like to provide an educational component to the participants. I This grant would help me to hire the appropriate musicians, artists, historians, and other contributing artists to make the evening a success. I plan to utilize my networking abilities to find contributing artists, musicians, and a historian. I plan to obtain permission from a local venue to have the event. I plan to collaborate and obtain the assistance from my experienced management team in order to take all of the necessary steps required for hosting the event. I believe that when it comes to having a vision, I have previously, and plan to continue executing my visions with purpose, direction, and precision. I recently planned a show that required collaboration with several artists, and the venue that we utilized. Though there were absolutely challenges along the way, I was able to delegate and take on various tasks. I was also able to network and reach out to all involved individuals with a clear idea about the vision I had for the event and their involvement. This involved organizing and coordinating communication about scheduling practices. Furthermore, I utilized the funds alloted for the event as I had originally planned and budgeted for. Since gaining experience in executing the actions of my first grant funded performance in alignment with the goals that I originally defined in the application, I have developed confidence in my ability to see the visions I have for my performances through. In order to have successfully executed this event, I would need to have achieved the highlighted goals in the Goal Statement above. If the event is a success, I will have hired the necessary contributing individuals (artists, historian, promoter, host), secured a venue, developed a plan in collaboration with the contracted historian for an interactive educational component that will be suitable to the space, audience, and intentions of the evening. The event would be well advertised/promoted; and the audience would feel entertained as well as informed about the historical context of the music that will be performed that evening.
