Measurable Outcome(s)

Unfortunately, attempts using multiple primers to amplify the mitochondrial DNA failed and a species identification was not possible. The dates were extremely informative, however. Because they are younger than the surrounding data strata, this demonstrates that the feature was indeed a pit that was excavated for the purpose of burying the bear remains. The dates are compatible with Middle Archaic projectile points recovered from overlying strata.
