Advisory Group Members and Qualifications

Rachel Fulkerson: Fulkerson offers 25 years of leadership experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, development, and event management. She holds a BA in English and creative writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a publishing certification from the University of Denver. From serving as the founding director of a literary nonprofit to working as a program director at Friends of the Hennepin County Library, she is passionate about her work and dedicated to helping others achieve their strategic objectives. Working with hundreds of world class artists and authors over her career, she has served on the boards of Grand Marais Arts Colony, Rain Taxi (producers of Twin Cities Book Festival), and Minnesota Association of Library Friends. She offers expertise in fundraising campaigns, media relations, communications, creative event development, social media, and marketing strategies.; Oliver Hunter: Hunter is the arts and culture programs coordinator at the American Swedish Institute, where he produces various public events including festivals, concert series, and even 'kubb' tournaments. Before this role, Hunter served as an assistant to U. S. Senator Debbie Stabenow in Michigan and as an Americorps volunteer in Alaska. Hunter holds BA degrees in international affairs and music from American University in Washington, DC. Outside of his day job, he is a freelance jazz musician and music educator. Hunter is also an amateur fiber artist and enjoys collaborating with other artists in the Twin Cities.; Kathryn Sanders: Sanders has a lifelong interest in the arts and is a multidisciplinary artist, creator, and educator. She has been painting by attending rosemaling classes for more than 35 years. She was certified as a teacher of decorative art (TDA) and has taught classes in oil and acrylics for more than twenty years. Most recently, she has been creating unique handmade artisan glass beads used in jewelry and her gourd art. She continues to give demonstrations at art fairs and teach through various community classes and at the North Country Arts and Crafts Workshop.; Jake Sullivan: Sullivan is a theater artist with a focus on directing and education. He has worked as a director at Theater Mu, Stages Theatre Company, Lyric Arts Main Street Stage, and Lakeshore Players, and as associate director on Cambodian Rock Band with Theater Mu and Jungle Theater. He has previously served as the head of theater at Breck, Anoka High, and Saint Clair schools. He also works as an educator and curriculum developer for Theater Mu. Sullivan was a fellow for the 2022 Knight Fellowship for Emerging Directors and holds his BFA in musical theater from Minnesota State University, Mankato, 2016.; Rebecca Utecht: Utecht is a fiber artist and fiber arts educator. She graduated magna cum laude from Bethel University with a BA in organizational studies. She represented Kanabec County on the board of the East Central Regional Arts Council many years ago and more recently served as a grant reviewer. She received a Minnesota State Arts Board Folk Arts grant in 2001, Forecast Public Arts Planning grant in 2010, as well as individual and organizational grants. She teaches Norwegian Skinnfell, felting, and botanical printing at folk schools, wool festivals, and her home studio.
