County Fair Legacy Project
Benton County is listed as one of the rural counties of Minnesota with lower access to the arts and culture, and has a low number of museums. As a larger event venue that provides access to the community, we utilize a couple of areas in our fairgrounds to provide access to programming that encourages participation and access to those areas. Emotion in Motion is one of the acts that we are looking forward to working with in our activity area. Families and children will enjoy an interactive program that benefits their creative process. This program was well received as an introduction with the 2023 fair, and we look forward to working with them again this year.
Benton County Fair is also looking to have a local school woodworking program build quilt dowel racks to be installeedd in our AG Craft Building. The labor will be covered by an in-kind donation from the school and will require the cost of materials at $550 which we hope to be covered with the 2024 grant.
An increased exposure to the community for programming is expected with 100+ increase in participation in the Activity area with Emotion in Motion. An increased exposure and with visibility enhanced should allow an increased exposure and participation in the AG Craft program of 100+ people as quilts were not as well featured as they could have been. We will have hand clickers available to track the community participation in the building and activity for future review on access and participation.
