County Fair Legacy Project
The Beltrami County Fair is fortunate to have a variety of venues, including both Home Arts and Heritage Square, to introduce our fairgoers to various cultural, educational, agricultural and historical activities and demonstrations. Our goal is to attract more exhibitors of arts, crafts and science entries with interactive demonstrations from various artists of Minnesota. To accomplish our goal, we will be scheduling two-hour demonstrations in the Home Arts building, plus other activities in our Heritage Square, which is an open air, covered structure with bleachers available for seating. It is our desire to give our fair visitors a taste of the wide variety of talent and skill in our area. The Headwaters Science Center is planning to spend an entire day (and another two-hour session on the following day) with specialized events that relate science to our everyday lives, with emphasis on nature and agricultural practices. George of the Juggler who uses magic and juggling as a tool to educate visitors about the history, all the way back to ancient Egypt, and techniques of the crafts.
We will take photographs during the demonstrations and performances as a method of counting the number attending. We will use social media comments to evaluate the general effectiveness and results of the programs. Our Fair Board has an annual "wrap up" meeting that requires input from all superintendents in order to add to the evaluation process. All of this contributes to planning for the following year.
