Connecting the Community to Arts and Cultural Heritage at Lake of the Woods County Fair
To bring arts and cultural heritage activities to the fair. The fair will provide an arts center where children can work with art instructors on art projects, host a lumberjack show highlighting MN's logging history, and offer canning and food preservation workshops.
These amounts are appropriated to the commissioner of agriculture for grants to county agricultural societies to enhance arts access and education and to preserve and promote Minnesota's history and cultural heritage as embodied in its county fairs. The grants shall be in addition to the aid distributed to county agricultural societies under Minnesota Statutes, section 38.02. The commissioner shall award grants as follows: (1) $700,000 each year distributed in equal amounts to each of the state's county fairs to enhance arts access and education and to preserve and promote Minnesota's history and cultural heritage;
Track attendance numbers and audience participation. Also gather feedback via social networking media.
The attendance and participation exceeded the fair's expectations.The fair board has restructured committees and are researching cultural events to bring to the area. They are recruiting more volunteers and seeking community members to provide their skills in increasing the number of art activities offered at the fair.
