Cemetery Records Management Implementation
To improve management of the historic cemetery records with an updated records management system.
$5,982,000 the first year and $7,000,000 the second year are for statewide historic and cultural grants to local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Money must be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society must administer the money using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).

Short term goal: goals are being met and we have sold everyone a lot that was awaiting one and it makes it a much more streamlined process because the software will create the invoice, track the payment, create a receipt and cemetery easement record, as well as allow us to pre-input a decedent's personal information so that when they die it is all in there. It is much less labor-intensive and ensures a thorough record is kept.
Intermediate term: it is much easier when the public contacts us to find their loved ones or try to purchase a lot closed to their loved one. People are impressed and feel more at ease with the software we have now as opposed to an excel file that could fail at any time.
Long-term: While I do not think we are far enough out to determine "long-term" yet, we have not had to yet dis-inter anyone since getting this software and it ensures we can track workorders that will more easily keep us from "doubling up" and selling/burying someone in another individual's cemetery lot.
