Measurable Outcome(s)

All measurable outcomes were achieved. We believe our achievement first and foremost goes to the credit of the MNHS. The thoroughness of the grant manual helped tremendously as this was our first time applying for a MNHS grant. Also, the MNHS staff identified for contact of questions were always responsive in a timely manner. We give Adsit a lot of credit for taking the lead with this entire process; however, we also want to commend ourselves, True Directions, as we took the project very seriously, planned well, and felt we did excellent for our first time working on this initial stage of a historical project for preservation.

This project of preservation of the C.E. Williams House is significant for the people of Mora, MN. We knew that already, but when we put together our first fundraiser, we were overwhelmed with the graciousness of people participating. The fundraiser was a raffle for two ATVs. We had thousands of tickets to sell, but in the end, we came out with $3,798.41 raised towards the preservation of this treasured building. The money raised will go towards recommendations not covered through preservation dollars, listed as replacement of historical lighting. Following the fundraiser, True Directions was contacted by the Moose Lodge of Kanabec County where they donated an additional $5,000.00 for the overall restoration project. Many citizens sent informational emails about the houses history or stopped by with old photos we could have. We could not have been more pleased with the outpouring of support during this initial announcement of our preservation project. At our raffle event, many citizens came to the restaurant location showing their support.

SHORT TERM: Allows True Directions to further pursue grant funding for full rehabilitation of the C.E. Williams House.

INTERMEDIATE TERM: Amazing success seeing the funding come through for our future preservation and repair projects and the visible pride of citizens, employees of TDI, government entities, and neighbors as they emerged showing much support for our efforts to restore and protect a piece of Mora's history for enjoyment well into the future.

LONG TERM: The excitement level is contagious! We are well on our way to preserve this part of Mora's (and Minnesota's) history. When we held our fundraiser, our Facebook page and website, along with flyers and other marketing materials, helped to spread the news of this project much wider than we had anticipated. We will continue regular updates to the public on this preservation project, including appropriate grant support language and displaying the Legacy logo.
