ACHF Arts Education
9: "Regional residents gain awareness and appreciation for a variety of artistic disciplines and mediums." Students will be exposed to a broader selection of visual and performing arts. Students will gain an appreciation for a new-to-them arts experience. Our evaluation tool this year has a number scale to one of our questions for participants to better quantify how they feel about art in their lives, as well as keeping reflective questions for participants to process their experience on this trip.
We attended a production of Jelly's Last Jam at Theatre Latte Da, MIA, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and the Midtown Global Market. Our students also requested a visit to the George Floyd Memorial, which was eye-opening and sobering for adults and students alike. We brought a group of students to Worldfest at SMSU in addition to our larger trip into the metro area. We also had some funds left to plan a very speedy trip to the Pipestone national monument. 100% of students indicated that they had experienced an art form unfamiliar to them in one of our venues. Although their level of engagement in those art forms varied greatly, we were encouraged by their willingness to try new things and do some exploration.
