Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The plein air experience for children of this age inspires confidence, self discipline, focus and an interpretation of the natural world around them onto paper in their own artist way. We hope the students will achieve a level of mastery in their sketchbook during the day and to carry this outdoor experience on to continue to work in their sketchbooks for daily practice and exploration of their artistic skills. Before the field trip students will be given a week to complete five drawings, one drawing per day, and see how many students go outside to draw. Upon completion of the field trip, students will be given another week to complete one drawing per day, and these drawings will be evaluated to see how many students continued to draw outside in relation to their first five drawings. The goal will be achieved if there is an increase by one plein air drawing in their sketchbook for the five drawings following the field trip. A second interesting statistic will be to determine the percentage of students that achieved the outcome desired.
