Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Goal Help foster the next generation of singers and make singing a pleasurable experience to encourage long-term engagement with choral and solo singing. Objective: 30-50 students will participate in choral singing and music learning in this pilot choir. Children of all abilities will have a safe and inclusive space for music learning regardless of background or beliefs. Children will learn music theory, sight-reading and ear-training and proper breathing techniques. Provide a public performance at the end of each session (December and April). Qualitative Assessment Directors will listen to and observe students sing during rehearsals in small groups and determine if they are making progress in areas such as singing in tune with others, proper vowel pronunciation, effective breathing and listening to others. (see sample lesson plan) Parents will be given a survey with open-ended questions. Because this is the first year, parents and students will be asked for feedback throughout each semester to ensure that time, format and structure is working well for students and families. The feedback will be used to make adjustments to plans for session #2. Quantitative assessments: Scored Rhythm proficiency assessments (written and oral) to show ongoing progress Solfege assessments of students (written and oral) to monitor continual growth of each student's reading and intonation. Number of students at the beginning of each session Number of students at the end of each session. Attendance at concerts.
