As a result of this program, participants in the NLOKids Theater Camp will experience increased awareness of what goes into the creation of an original theater production by working on their own original play with music. While working closely with dedicated theater professionals, participants will gain skills in playwriting, song writing, set and costume design. Through daily games and exercises, participants will grow their skills in singing, acting, theater movement and improvisation. Evaluation methods include survey questionnaires administered to participants before and after the workshop to measure their understanding of what goes into the creation of an original theater work. Throughout the workshop process, we'll journal with photographs to capture working moments with participants in order to gauge engagement. After the performance we hope to include informal interviews with participants, workshop leaders, and parents to see if there are any stories of personal impact.
