Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

At-risk students from under-resourced schools will learn the elements of playwriting while creating plays based on their own experience. Evaluation Methods: The number of residencies conducted. Students will perform a short play based on their own experiences. Interviews with partner teachers. The number of students participating and completing the residency. Student learning assessed with a pre- and post-survey instrument.

Measurable Outcome(s)

With this support, a total of 241 at-risk students from 4 under-resourced schools in the metro area participated in Seats to Stage residencies offered by History Theatre. Students learned the elements of playwriting while creating plays based on their own experience and presented their work on stage at History Theatre. History Theatre was able to achieve this outcome and therefore was able to increase the types of arts learning opportunities available to these students in locations that otherwise would not have this type of arts learning programming. Students and teachers reported via interviews and surveys that the residencies were very valuable learning opportunities.
