ACHF Arts Education
RAD Art outcomes are the following: 1) RELEVANT to AUDIENCE: Projects allow learners to participate at their choice of level (entry, enrichment, or experiment), as well theme and function, respective of cultural and community backgrounds. 2) DISTINCT VISION: Curriculum aligns with state of Minnesota's MN Academic Standards in the Visual Arts' benchmarks, working toward the "presentation" of art work at a library exhibit. 3) PEDAGOGY: The arts need working artists to invest in youth. Working artists have an opportunity to model the creative process, to ensure a future populated by creative thinkers. d) GATEWAY for future, Kiln-fired Thrown Pottery Education, which is a medium that is skill-intensive and expensive. RAD Art's use of Cold Porcelain Clay (CPC) is an air-drying clay that serves as an ideal entry-level medium for increased arts access to underserved youth. The study of ceramics is normalized, as CPC bridges youth learners familiarity with 2D painting to 3D clay work. This work will be assessed by 1) Observational Evaluation utilized by Teaching Artist (in Lesson Plan). 2) Create opportunity for Student survey on the last workshop. 3) Lessons will reflect MN State Academic Benchmarks in Visual Arts (example in lesson plan attachment). 4) Exit Feedback Interviews with Duluth Public Library staff (pros, cons, overall observations, momentum opportunity) after workshop sessions and art exhibit. Share feedback in ARAC Final Report. 5) An exit evaluation between Teaching Artist and Jesse Switters to evaluate the collaboration, based on 1) Observed delivery of lessons 2) Rapport with students and parents 3) Expected follow-thru of DAI values for this type of community event, and 4) Momentum opportunities, 5) sharing learner's evaluations of sessions. 6) Teaching Artist drop-off and pickup of exhibit pieces in meetings with Katie Schmitz, Library Technician, at Duluth Public Library, and return work to youth artists.
