Million Artist Movement's Joy and Movement Sessions are arts workshops that equip children with skills in critical literacy and self-healing of trauma using African American artistic traditions of protest song, performance poetry, and visual arts.

ACHF Arts Education
Youth grades 3-5 learn critical literacy and self-healing practices from African American protest song, spoken word, and visual arts traditions. Students' art work will be evaluated by the workshop facilitators, classroom teachers, and parents; In-Class Observations of students; Group self-reflection dialogues with students before and after class. 2: Participating in a creative and cultural learning community contributes to the social-emotional development and cultural competence of children. Teaching Artist/Staff observations of students' classroom behavior, evaluated by a rubric based on MPS's ten social and emotional learning practices.
