Design artist, Leon Wang, will collaborate with Highland Park Middle School students in a three-day Design for Activation and Change workshop, culminating in a large-scale installation of the students' final products, and a community event.

ACHF Arts Education
Students will engage in an arts and design learning experience resulting in opportunities for growth in racial and cultural equity. Students will be surveyed prior to, during and upon completion of the workshop experience. There will be questions that relate specifically to how they feel they can make change in the world in which they live. 2: Students will collaborate, while finding their individual voice, in the process of creating an arts' product which expresses their points of view. Students will engage in a more thoughtful discussion and conversation around self-expression and how they perceive themselves as creators. They will share their vignettes of their artistic process and how it leads to self-expression.
Students engaged in an arts and design learning experience.The students reported that this opportunity empowered them to continue in racial equity work. Students were interviewed by their teachers, staff and eventually our Superintendent, Dr. Gothard with regards to how this residence impacted them. They shared their stories and their anecdotes with regards to how this impacted them. 2: Students will collaborate, while finding their individual voice, in the process of creating an arts' product which expresses their points of view. Students were surveyed before and prior to the residency about how they see themselves as creators. The data indicated a large increase in seeing themselves as agents of change and able to express themselves in authentic and creative ways.
