Project Details

The FAIR School Crystal Campus will engage with visual artist, Victor Yepez, to engage fifth through eighth grade students, and community members, in a three-week residency to design and create a large-scale painted mural, and celebrate the process and final product with a community event.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Students will gain experience in crafting an Artist Statement, in which they will justify their artistic choices. Student-written Artist Statements will be evaluated by teachers and the artist, using a rubric aligned to state standards for visual arts. 2: Participants (students and community members) will learn and implement new visual arts skills in mural creation and fabrication. The development of new skills and expanded knowledge will be evaluated through observations as well as through surveys for students and for community participants.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Crafting of an artist statement and justification artistic choices. A project rubic was created, observational data and surveys. 2: The successful making of school mural. We used still photos and video to record the process and to document the final project.
