As a result of this project, guests will develop increased awareness, knowledge and foundational skills in the area of art creation (with an emphasis on abstract painting) through participating in artist-led workshops, where they will create and exhibit a finished painting. After experiencing increased access/participation in various aspects of the local "art world," guests' interest, confidence, and motivation to participate in future art making and art appreciation will increase. Evaluation methods will include participant observation conducted by staff during the entirety of the project to assess the participation and engagement of guests. During workshops, we will also record guest responses to various "check-in" questions asked by the teaching artist. After workshops, staff will aim to conduct brief 1-on-1 conversational interviews with returning guests (whenever possible) to capture their unique reflections/feelings about their participation.
As a result of this project, guests developed increased awareness, knowledge and foundational skills in the area of art creation and the art market through participating in artist-led workshops, where they created and publicly exhibited finished artworks.
