Project Details

The Duluth Playhouse and the Masonic Clinic will conduct three ten-week sessions of Stage Play: Theatre for Children with Autism, serving youth with a variety of autism spectrum and related disorders.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The Playhouse will conduct three sessions of Stage Play; building social skills, confidence, and theatre arts access region wide for children with Autism. Evaluation includes: student assessment before, during, and after sessions, parent feedback, continued program demand from families, and participant surveys for staff, students, and volunteers. 2: Stage Play mitigates barriers for underserved families coping with Autism Spectrum Disorders to participate in meaningful theatre arts experiences. Stage Play overcomes barriers by providing theatre education for free, compensation for gas/travel when possible, and providing customized supports and experiences for each student to ensure success.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The Playhouse conducted three sessions of Stage Play; building social skills, confidence, and theatre arts access region wide for children with autism. Individualized student assessments were used before, during and after stage play to evaluate student learning and success. Parent feedback was collected to determine engagement of experiences and accessibility needs. 2: Stage Play mitigates barriers for underserved families coping with Autism Spectrum Disorders to participate in meaningful theatre arts experiences. The Playhouse and Masonic Clinic were able to offer programming for free. Registration was free and allowed for one on one assessments to determine the needs of each family.
