Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Dance students who live with and without disabilities will work together, on an ongoing basis, to create and perform their original choreography. Surveys by dancers and families will determine the quality and impact of the project and provide their perspectives on how to best support integration at Young Dance. 2: Young Dance presents six dance performances that introduce physically integrated dance to new audience members and practitioners. Surveys will determine the numbers of audience members new to dance. Enrollment in classes will be tracked to determine how many students were first exposed to dance through a performance.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Our intention was that, through workshops and performances, dancers with and without disabilities would work together on an ongoing basis to create and perform their original choreography. In each workshop, dancers created their own choreography. Many dancers participated in repeat workshops, so each workshop was able to build upon the skills developed in the previous workshop. New dancers were welcomed with enthusiasm. Dancers who have not been able to continue with the workshops have stayed in touch with Young Dance through communication and attendance at events. 2: Through six dance performances we intended to introduce new audiences to physically integrated dance. Follow up evaluations with our students were to determine how many of our students were introduced to dance through our performances. Each performance did introduce new audience members to physically integrated dance, as evident by audience evaluations and verbal feedback. However, the audience members introduced to dance through performance did not follow up to be students in subsequent classes. In many cases, the audiences were present at the performance because they were watching a specific student who was new to dance for that workshop.
