Project Details
Spectrum High School is a small school with big results in Elk River, Minnesota. Each student at Spectrum is required to participate in Service Learning. This year we would like to offer students the opportunity to create dishes for their community.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

We will help others less fortunate by feeding them a hot meal and in a handmade bowl that they keep. For the 2012-2013 school year Spectrum is planning on incorporating a ceramics studio in to our school. Making this an amazing opportunity for our staff to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the intricate workings of a ceramic studio.The students will meet many markers along the way of planning our event such as researching local organizations, volunteering at the food shelf (5 hrs), budgeting our expenses, planning transportation, and creating a presentation about our journey as a group. The smiles on faces, ours and others will be the true measurement of our achievement.

Outcomes: Students gained knowledge of a new art material and different ceramic building styles. Citizens participating in a food shelf program in our community received a handmade piece of pottery wrapped nicely with an inspirational note and filled with
