ACHF Arts Education
1. Learning about how to perform written scores in the tradition, as opposed to strictly as scores are written, as well as learning about the process of using ancient scores to create new and historically informed music for performance. 2. Instruction on other methods of playing instruments, including the use of fingernails as opposed to a pick, how to accurately perform difficult techniques specified in old scores, and how to repair and take care of the instrument itself. 3. Learning new traditional pieces in two distinct styles (military and civil), modern pieces written for Chinese lutes, and experimenting with the reconstruction of a seventh-century piece written for the seven-string zither to be used as a solo piece for the reconstructed medieval Chinese lute.
