Artist Initiative
Reichard will research the history of LGBTQ people in Minnesota, then write lyric, narrative poems about their lives. He will read and discuss the new work in Saint Paul, Minneapolis, and if possible, greater Minnesota venues.

As a queer Minnesota poet, this project is vital for deepening my engagement with the LGBTQ and literary communities here in Minnesota and beyond. I will research LGBTQ individuals/communities in Minnesota, and write lyric narrative poems about them. After revisions, with community input (see Outcome 2), I will read at Minnesota LGBTQ-friendly venues, and submit the work for publication. 2: This project will stretch me artistically, and a grant will provide me with the time I need in order to further develop my artistic practice. After getting feedback from trusted mentors, I will revise my work. I did achieve this outcome, though it was changed by Covid restrictions. I counted the number of people who attended my online Zoom readings. 2: I did achieve this outcome. I have not been able to give any public readings, due to Covid restrictions, but did give two Zoom readings.
