I will develop skills in public speaking and engaging audiences in writing practice through workshops that involve a reading and nature journaling. I will evaluate workshops through a) qualitative assessment of participants' level of engagement in discussion and nature journaling, and b) written evaluations that encourage feedback on the workshop and where improvements can be made. 2: I will develop my writing practice by working with two Minnesota-based mentors to prepare Zugunruhe for submission to an agent or press. Success will be evaluated in terms of forward progress through rounds of feedback and edits in partnership with mentors to achieve the goal of submission to an agent or press.
I facilitated two 4-week online nature writing workshops to develop my skills in public reading and writing instruction. Workshop participants shared writing pieces produced during class sessions and anynomous evaluations were collected at the end of each workshop with feedback to improve future facilitation of similar style. 2: With the help of two MN-based writers, I prepared a manuscript for submission to an agent. I ended the grant period with a completely re-structured manuscript with a stronger storyline than when starting this project. I continue to work with my mentors on this manuscript, readying it for submission.
