Artist Initiative
Kakitani will compose 30 minutes of vocal music, based on texts by female writers/poets, for Quince, a four-woman ensemble. The work will premiere at Kracum Concert Hall in Northfield and Studio Z in Saint Paul, November 2020.

I will compose 30 minutes of vocal music for the female ensemble, Quince, expanding my skills as a composer. Audience feedback, collected through survey cards and Q and A after performances will measure whether desired themes come across. I will seek input throughout the composition period from the four singers.
