Tahiel will learn new skills in directing narrative short films and engage with Minnesota Latinx communities. The artist will request feedback from collaborators and audiences to give feedback to the artist. The film screenings will be structured as a place for open communication, conversation, and critique with the artist. 2: The artist will grow skills in public speaking and conversation facilitation. There will be a question on the feedback form given to the audience of the film about how they felt about the post-screening conversation. It will ask questions in relation to how they felt about the engagement of the conversation.
I did learn new skills in directing, producing, and organizing while hiring an Latinx-only cast. The cast is all Latinx and it can be evaluated in the final cut of the film. I kept up a journal and have been writing lessons from this project. I listed over twenty new learnings of thinking and creating that I will take forth into my future projects. 2: I build this skill in communicating with the crew and cast. I was placed in a leadership position and I feel I grew lots in this regard. I collected feedback from crew and cast at the end of production. They each had great feedback to share and this too helped me grow as a leader and facilitator. I feel much more confident in holding space for others.
