Christensen will create Past Present, an exhibition of paintings on local history's relevancy to social justice issues. It will be presented at the East Side Freedom Library in Saint Paul, and will be documented in a book.

The artist will engage viewers with a painting exhibit on social justice issues exploring how local history impacts the present, documented in a book. It will succeed if the community appreciates the creative role of the paintings as part of the ongoing discussion of social justice issues. The artwork will be valued as relevant along with the ESFL's collections that focus on scholarship and activism.
The goals of the project were met. The artwork was exhibited at the MCAD MFA Gallery and accompanying book was published. A gallery book included about 30 signed messages.
