Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

By making work and meeting with a mentor to discuss the progress of my work, I will learn from another artist and further develop my artistic abilities. Planning a new body of work, meeting consistently with the mentor, incorporating feedback and completing the new work will show that I have achieved the desired outcome. 2: From the mentor, learn practical and business skills, including how to promote work, find funding, and seek out venues for showing work. I will achieve the intended outcome by gaining and implementing knowledge from conversations with the mentor, specifically knowledge relating to strategies for seeking places to show work and sustaining an artistic practice.

Measurable Outcome(s)

I planned a new body of work and met with a mentor to discuss the progress of my work. Based on her feedback, I pushed the work in new directions and to new levels of craftsmanship. Thus, I was able to learn from another artist and develop my artistic abilities through our interaction. 2: I gained knowledge about the practical skills of an artist, including the business of being an artist. I was able to learn and implement strategies for seeking places to show work and sustaining an artistic practice. Elizabeth Simonson provided invaluable insight into developing relationships with galleries, applying for grant funding and maintaining a studio practice. I also spoke to high school and college students about what I learned during this project.
