Rutherford will create a series of mixed media paintings which integrate historic needlework processes into the work. An exhibit and artist talk at Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis is planned.

Research into and practice of various needlework processes for incorporating into new mixed media paintings. Outcomes of research and practice will be seen via application of new processes in painted works. Consultation with practitioners in the field will provide input and critical feedback. 2: Research will provide basis for a new body of work consisting of paintings exploring themes of landscape, place and cultural identity. New work will be exhibited in public exhibitions and accompanied by public events and artist talks. Professional documentation of work will support future exhibition and grant applications.
