Artist Initiative

Project Details

Hosain will complete a series of eight to fifteen oil paintings depicting Muslim immigrants in their Minnesota homes. The work will be shared with the public through open studio events and an exhibition in Minneapolis.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Complete 8-15 paintings that encourage dialogue about the Muslim identity in the United States and share with community via open studio events and exhibitions. Evaluated based on process and completion of work, attendance of public exhibitions and open studio events as well as feedback from community at large and the Somali Muslim community in Minnesota.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Completed twenty midscale portraits of Muslim personae. The exhibition opening and talk was a huge success, it was a diverse audience from various backgrounds, including a large group of students from the Muslim student association of the university.
