Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Minnesota artists are able to expand or further develop their artistic abilities through varied learning opportunities.

Measurable Outcome(s)

I completed a collection of poems entitled "Apologia" informed by experiences with family members and a community plagued by addictions to alcohol and crystal meth (generating more than the estimated 30% of poems necessary). The collection has been submitted to 4 publishing houses and 6 book contests. Developing an online writing module helped provide a framework for thinking through challenges and semantic paths for the poems. Thinking in terms of storytelling craft techniques (memory, character, point of view, setting, tense, dialogue, tension, plot and beginnings and endings) pushed the poems in new and, at times, provocative directions.
