Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

My goal through this grant project is to build not only a physical exhibit that can travel but also build my confidence to take my artwork into new communities. I also hope to inspire and raise awareness through my exhibit. I hope that people who view my artwork admire the artistic craft involved and are also moved by the message of the project. I hope to encourage others to speak openly about the challenges faced by veterans and to advocate for service animals and other forms of assistance and support for veterans and their families. At the end of this grant, I will have displayed my exhibit Barnabas 22 in Minneapolis to a community of veterans and their families along with the broader public. I will know I've been successful from the conversations I have with those who attend the opening reception and comments in the guestbook while the exhibit is on display. This kind of feedback -- informal verbal comments and written responses -- is invaluable to me as I consider the impact of my work. I will also measure my success by my ability and willingness to schedule future exhibits in other communities. By the end of the grant term I hope to have at least three additional exhibition opportunities for Barnabas 22 either scheduled or in development.
