I hope to produce something beautiful and honest to share with others. I aim to create something that enables me to confidently pursue other local artistic opportunities. I believe creating this object (a booklet), could be a point of access for others to discover my visual and written work. It would showcase my writing and painting in an intimate and accessible way, and serve as a container for the particular body of work I hope to create with this grant. I will be successful when I create 7-12 original paintings/illustrations, organize them with my writing, and send them off to the printers! I imagine holding a copy of the finished product in my hands and reading aloud from it at the bookstore or community center. The project will be successful when I connect with other artists, parents, and community members via this creative opportunity. If even one person comes up to me after reading/viewing my work and says they can relate to it, I would consider it a success.
