"A Lazy Thru-Hike of the Superior Hiking Trail" will be published through a local publishing house (North Shore Press, On-Word Bound Books, Milkweed Editions, Graywolf Press, etc). With this initial grant support, I expect to have the manuscript prepared for submission to publishing houses. I will complete the transcription and editing of this initial draft and contract an illustrator/Naturalist, Shelby Roback, to include B and W drawings of some key plants one may encounter while hiking on the SHT. At the end of May, 2024, I will be away at a cabin in the Northwoods specifically to work on the transcription and editing of this project. I expect the following months to be used to wrap up editing and proofreading, communicating with the illustrator, and planning to submit to publishing houses. By mid-September, 2024, the book will be in a state where it can be submitted to various publishing houses for review. I will gauge the readiness of the manuscript by collaborating with the community of Duluth writers who meet weekly at the Duluth Poetry Chapter, and monthly at the Writers Salon at Wussow's Concert Cafe.
